The Perfectly Seasoned Crispy Falafel
Its origin hotly debated by Middle Eastern countries who all want to claim its fame, Falafel is a wildly popular crunchy iconic street-food made from a ground mixture of chickpeas, fava beans, and tahini (sesame seed paste).
Deep-fried, the seasoned veggie patties can be eaten alone, alongside fresh vegetables, a salad, rice, or in a fresh-baked pita wrapped like a sandwich. At Moby Dick House of Kabob, our falafel entrée is served with basmati rice, a small Moby salad, and a side of our zesty tahini sauce, which we also make fresh in-house.
Healthy and delicious, loaded with protein and nutrients, falafel makes a great appetizer, entrée, or sandwich. Wrapped in freshly baked naan and topped with a slice of a red tomato, fresh green lettuce, and our zesty tahini sauce, the Falafel Sandwich at Moby Dick is one of our more popular menu items.
The key to great falafel is in the seasoning. At Moby Dick, we include onion, sesame seed, fresh cilantro, minced garlic, and just the right amount of sea salt. The patties are hand-formed into perfect bite-sized patties at each location by caring Moby team members. Then we fry the patties just right, in a piping hot oil, so the outside is crispy golden brown while the insides stay light and fluffy.
Founder, Mike Daryoush, who passed away in 2019, traveled the world learning about falafel and exploring new recipes along with new techniques to making the perfect patty. Over time, the recipe at Moby Dick House of Kabob was perfected. The Moby falafel mixture is now produced at our central commissary before being sent to the individual locations.
Loved by vegetarians around the world, falafel makes a great meatless meal or a quick snack for those observing a plant-based diet as well as satisfying the meat-eaters among us.
If you haven’t already, stop by and try the Moby Dick House of Kabob falafel. We promise you will not be disappointed. It is a recipe that stands the test of time.
